5 Ways to Engage with AL!VE at Points of Light’s Conference

Jun 4, 2024

All of us at AL!VE cannot wait to connect with thousands of amazing civic-minded people at the Points of Light Conference next week. I am thrilled to spend another birthday week at this great event, learning from amazing session presenters, being inspired by the keynotes, connecting with corporate social responsibility and community engagement professionals, and exploring new ideas and possibilities with other volunteer engagement professionals. Here are five great ways to connect with AL!VE while you are at the 2024 Points of Light Conference:

  1. Getting in on Tuesday? Register and stop by our networking event hosted by AL!VE, Better Impact, CCVA, and VolunteerMatch at Hearsay on the Green from 7–10 p.m CT. It is an open house style, you can just pop in for a bit if your travels leave you feeling tired.
  2. Go to Jump Start Strategic Volunteer Engagement Through Self-assessment & Asset Sharing to Implement Change on Wednesday at 10:45 a.m. with Rosie Drumgoole and myself. Our session was featured in 6 Workshops to Watch For. You’ll get a chance to hang the mirror with our quick self-assessment and then do some topic-based networking, making great connections to ignite conversations for the rest of conference.
  3. Attend Career Pathways for the Volunteer Engagement Professional on Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. to hear from AL!VE’s President Cathy Thoma and Megan Vixie about the results of our Career Pathway Survey and how we intend to get Volunteer Engagement Professional officially recognized by the Department of Labor. Join us in the fight to legitimize our profession!
  4. Check out the AL!VE & CCVA booth. There, you will meet Gretchen Jordan, AL!VE’s Association Manager, and Faiza Venzant, CCVA’s Executive Director. These two are a wealth of knowledge and can answer all your questions about being an AL!VE member or becoming a certified volunteer administrator. They may even know 90% of the volunteer engagement professionals at the conference between the two.
  5. Look for AL!VE badge ribbons. Our amazing members will have green ones and Service Enterprise organizations will have blue ribbons. Even if you aren’t yet an AL!VE member or a Service Enterprise organization, you can get fun and sassy ribbons at our booth.

Whether it is your first time attending the Points of Light conference or you’ve attended more than ten, I hope you make the most of your time in Houston. Whether it be socializing in the Texas sunshine, being inspired by people and organizations that are taking innovative approaches to the challenges we are facing, joining us at Happy Hour on Tuesday, sharing your awesomeness with others, or sitting back and taking it all in, it’s going to be unforgettable. Drop me a note on LinkedIn or email me if you want to connect at the conference.

See y’all soon at the Points of Light Conference!
