Three years ago, Maria Italia began as a lunchtime cook at Grey Bears, an organization focused on improving the health and well being of seniors through food distribution, volunteerism, and community participation. She arrives at 5am to find out what the community has contributed and makes a healthy breakfast that is served at 6:30am to the Grey Bears bagging volunteers. Because of Maria establishing the breakfast tradition at Grey Bears, volunteers show up earlier to bag on Thursdays and Fridays to share a meal together and socialize. Maria has truly brought the early morning Grey Bears together to create a more family like atmosphere and connection to the organization.
