Joshua Pathrose

Daily Point of Light # 4713 Mar 1, 2012

At only 13-years-old, Joshua Pathrose of Mason, Ohio has made an incredible impact through his volunteer work. His presence brings joy and energy to the residents of Cedar Village, a not-for-profit retirement community for Alzheimer’s and dementia patients. Joshua has spent more than 170 hours helping residents with daily physical therapy, exercise, serving lunches and assisting nurses by cleaning beds and much more. He also uses his gift of music to provide entertainment for the residents by playing his guitar. Overall, it is his company that shows the residents they are not forgotten.
Joshua has also raised more than $1,000 for “Save the Children of Japan” through the American Red Cross. By doing so he has been able to help provide hundreds of children in Japan with essential needs such as food, water, clothing, and medicine. His work with the American Red Cross continued with the 10th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks. Joshua setup a music booth at his local grocery store and raised more than $800. He uses his music booth to raise money for famine-stricken countries in Africa on a regular basis.

Not only is Joshua raising funds for international organizations, but he is also committing his efforts to local organizations. He raised almost $600 for Cincinnati Children’s Hospital as well as for Shriner’s Burns Hospital for Children, both local and national-based organizations. Through these programs, he is able to help countless children. He also volunteers for the Feed the Need Program at The Drop Inn Center in Cincinnati. The Drop Inn Center provides basic human services to people experiencing homelessness.
Joshua’s service at such a young age surpasses what most will do in a lifetime. This is why Joshua is a Daily Point of Light.
