Celebrating 35 Years of Volunteering

A Legacy of Volunteering

Today, communities around the globe face complex and urgent challenges. Disconnection and isolation further undermine efforts to rally people to address these deep-rooted issues. Volunteers are essential in meeting critical needs, bringing immense value to individuals, the communities they serve and our global society. However, there are not enough people engaged in volunteering. Through research and insights, sector capacity building and culture change, Points of Light aims to increase the number of volunteers and shape the future of volunteering in our society.

Support Our Mission

“A Thousand Points of Light…”

“I have spoken of a thousand points of light, of all the community organizations that are spread like stars throughout the Nation, doing good. We will work hand in hand, encouraging, sometimes leading, sometimes being led, rewarding… The old ideas are new again because they are not old, they are timeless: duty, sacrifice, commitment and a patriotism that finds its expression in taking part and pitching in.”
