In addition to her role with Beaches Dial-A-Ride, Nicole has served on the Mayor’s Senior Services Council since 2005. Over the last 15 years, she has also volunteered with Wolfson’s Children’s Hospital, Autism Society, and Relay for Life.

As a young child Nicole was inspired to give back after witnessing her grandmother care for her great-grandmother, who suffered from Alzheimer’s disease. For 11 years, her grandmother also drove seniors to the grocery store and various appointments.

“I have seen the positive impact that helping serve others can make, not only on the individuals and community, but the impact it makes within yourself for knowing the difference you are making is priceless,” Nicole said.

When asked why she thinks it’s important for people to volunteer, Nicole said, “Giving back helps people take ownership in the community, and it encourages people to “be the change.”
