Katie Malone
Katie Malone, the current Miss Tuscaloosa, is a 2012 Miss Alabama pageant contestant. After a tornado ravaged Tuscaloosa, Ala.,on April 27, 2011, Katie had a unique opportunity to serve her community and thus be a “point of light” in a hurting city.
In addition to lending a hand after the devestating tornado, Katie’s regular service activities include working with the Ronald McDonald House and Salvation Army. Overall Katie’s community service fills two needs raising awareness and funds for the Ronald McDonald House, a 32-year-old organization that provides support and housing to families with children who are enduring long-term hospital stays and partnering with the Salvation Army for Christmas in Dixie, a toy drive to collect toys for children affected by the 2011 tornado.
Katie carries a full load of studies at the University of Alabama, represents her city as Miss Tuscaloosa and devotes a large chuck of her time and energy to serving others. She has been a positive light for so many hurting community members. This is what makes her a Daily Point of Light.
