Dick Doi is a longtime volunteer with the Portland Japanese Garden, a 12-acre oasis with eight separate garden styles in the West Hills of Portland, Oregon.
Dick says he was inspired to give back to his community by the garden itself. “I […] wanted to share its splendor with others,” he said. “I also enjoy working with and sharing the history and culture of Japan with children. And, I am proud to support a nonprofit whose mission it is to bring tranquility and peace to others.”
“He often dedicates three days a week to being at the garden, and we rely and look forward to seeing him,” said tour and volunteer manager Catherine Adinolfi.
