Martin Levin
Martin has volunteered with The Shepherd Center of Greater Winston-Salem’s since 1991, and his service is estimated to be more than 10,000 hours over 25 years. Marty coordinates The Shepherd Center’s year-round effort to collect and process used books for their annual used book sale. His passion and amazing commitment to The Shepherd’s Center’s used book collection program and annual sale are unparalleled. Because of Marty’s support, hard work, and coordination of the project, the sale has grown from a few dozen books to a huge 3-day sale. Even at 91, Marty has continued to oversee the weekly processing of donated items. Marty has also volunteered with Crisis Control, the Food Bank of Northwest North Carolina, and The National Multiple Sclerosis Society to raise money for the research and treatment of multiple sclerosis. His determination to stay involved in giving serves as a wonderful example of aging with meaning and purpose. Marty’s volunteer spirit is an inspiration to people of all ages.
