Overview
We encourage business leaders to create, by example and through official workplace policies, a culture that inspires and equips employees and retirees to volunteer in the communities in which they live and work. In 1993, Points of Light Institute created the Corporate Engagement Award of Excellence to honor companies that exemplified these principles. Today, the program is regarded as the most prestigious award program in the industry.
The awards are presented annually at the National Conference on Volunteering and Service, the world’s largest gathering of service and civic engagement leaders held in June.
Award Criteria
The Principles of Excellence for Workplace Volunteering were created as a result of extensive research and with the input of an advisory task panel comprised of 50 flagship corporate practitioners. These principles are the criteria used when evaluating nominations.
