Vision
Our focus is to increase the number of youth and families volunteering together and to discover how nonprofit organizations, educational institutions, faith communities, and corporations can work together to address community issues.
Young people are active, empowered members of their communities. They work in cooperation with their peers and community leaders to create positive change in society. They identify problems and implement solutions. They are just as likely to be in the boardroom as in the classroom.
Family volunteering offers numerous advantages to the community that can be summarized as "the virtues of family volunteering."
Volunteering service is a win-win proposition for all communities. When young people and families serve they help solve problems that face their communities like, hunger, homeless, and teenage pregnancy. They also grow on a personal, social and intellectual level.
To help you successfully engage young people and families, the Points of Light Foundation & Volunteer Center National Network, through its Youth & Family Outreach department, has developed a variety of resources including events, trainings, awards related to service.
