Martin Luther King Day of Service
Americans across the country celebrate Dr. Martin Luther King's life and work. Hundreds of thousands of Americans remember and memorialize Dr. King by participating in service projects in their communities. Together, they honor Dr. King's legacy of tolerance, peace and equality by meeting community needs and making the holiday a day on, not a day off. This year's event was held on January 15 th . 36 grants were given to Volunteer Centers to promote projects across the country. To find out how to participate in the King Day of Service, participants can call 1-800-VOLUNTEER or go to www.mlkday.gov.

Faith Events at the National Conference
In recent years, several hundreds of faith and service leaders have gathered as part of the National Conference on Volunteering and Service to work on advancing the faith and service agenda. Faith Day and our faith-focused workshops offer a forum for discussion of faith and service ideas to strengthen Volunteer Centers.
Each year, the National Days of Interfaith Youth Service brings together thousands of religiously diverse young people in hometowns and academic campuses across the nation to serve their communities. These young people explore and act upon the impulse of service in their religious traditions and work towards better inter-religious understanding.
