General Description:
Responsible for all things technology in the organization, including technology products for affiliates, the management of affiliate volunteer opportunity databases, company web sites, and technology used by all employees in their daily work. The ideal candidate will have the technology experience required to provide leadership for the technical teams, the business experience needed to serve the diverse customers of Points of Light’s technology products, and the ability to effectively translate between the vision of senior management and the technology sector.
Reporting:
Reports to Chief Operating Officer and works closely with Senior Management Team.
Direct reports include the Vice President of Network Technology and Vice President of Web Technology.
Duties & responsibilities:
- Assume responsibility for the overall success of the Technology department in meeting or exceeding annual goals
- Overseeing development and launch of new volunteer management product
- Deliver technology projects in support of major Points of Light corporate partnerships (such as current Disney initiative)
- Lead cross-functional team that continuously improves Points of Light’s web properties
- Oversee IT support for all staff
- Manage a high performing team within the Technology department
- Provide insight, vision and leadership that enables the enterprise to innovate with technology
- Actively participate in identifying and generating revenue for the enterprise
- Serve as member of the Senior Management Team and participate in enterprise wide problem solving and decision making
- Share responsibility for strategic integration of operational activities within and between Technology department and other areas of the enterprise
Qualifications and Education:
- Experience managing complex technology products
- Deep familiarity with Salesforce.com and its application platform
- Demonstrated ability to think and act strategically, especially in the online arena
- A strong value for data-driven decision making and demonstrated success in generating and executing thoughtful practical solutions
- Proven capacity for collaborative leadership of staff, volunteers and outside advisors
- Superior communications and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated ability to identify and creatively solve problems
- A track record of building, managing and mentoring high-performing teams that produce timely, cost effective, high-quality results
- Demonstrated ability to operate in a flexible, entrepreneurial and opportunistic environment.
- Evidence of a bold and creative leadership style with a bias for hands-on action—capable of leading, inspiring and engaging people
- Effective translator of technology issues to senior management
- A commitment to continuous improvement
- Ten years of experience in technology management position
- Advanced Degree or equivalent experience in a related field
