Points of Light Institute and HandsOn Network celebrated MLK Day of Service by bringing together more than 100,000 people to serve in 1,500 HandsOn projects and engage in more
than 150 community dialogues. We also held our inaugural MLK Day Virtual Town Hall, connecting the world to live video of service projects and civic dialogues happening through
HandsOn Action Centers in seven cities.
In collaboration with civic and service organizations and our network of 250 affiliates and 70,000 nonprofit partners, we are engaging more than 100,000 volunteers in 1,500
service projects for MLK Day. We are also connecting people live to projects and dialogues happening in cities across the U.S. through
www.handsonnetwork.org!
Points of Light Institute CEO Michelle Nunn will be on Twitter answering questions about MLK Day Thursday, January 14 from 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. EST!
Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service 2010 marks the beginning of the year for service as millions of
Americans honor the memory of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. by volunteering in their communities. The day builds upon President Obama’s resonant and reiterated call to
service and the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
All arms of Points of Light Institute - HandsOn Network Action Centers, AmeriCorps Alums, community partners and more - are calling people to Get HandsOn! and make MLK Day
2010 "A Day On, Not A Day Off."
