All arms of Points of Light Institute - HandsOn Network Action Centers, AmeriCorps Alums, community partners and more - are calling people to Get HandsOn! and make MLK Day
2010 "A Day On, Not A Day Off."
Points of Light Institute celebrated many successes in 2009, including the signing of the Edward M. Kennedy Serve America Act, our most successful National Conference on
Volunteering and Service in history and a merger with Children for Children that resulted in Youth HandsOn Network, among a multitude of successful signature service days and
new initiatives.
Shannon Lambert was announced as the 2009 L'Oréal Women of Worth National Honoree at the CNN Inspire Summit on December 8.
This year, 10 Women of Worth honorees received $5,000 for their charitable causes, and a matching donation was made on their behalf to the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund. Lambert, who was chosen through an online public vote as the National Honoree, will receive an additional $25,000 donation to her cherished nonprofit organization.

The holidays are approaching rapidly, and many people are trying to be wise in their giving this year.
