Skills-based volunteering allows individuals to apply their unique skills and talents to aid non-profit organizations in accomplishing goals. Several corporations have realized the multi-faceted benefits of skills-based volunteerism, encouraging their employees to contribute time and skills to social-minded organizations around the world. The service and corporate sectors have collaborated in new ways in the last three years in particular, creating an explosion of pro-bono activities and giving birth to a skills-based volunteer movement.




The time has finally arrived for the 2009 National Conference on Volunteering and Service, civic.energy.generation. I’ve been looking forward to the conference since last year’s hallmark gathering in Atlanta! I’m convinced that this conference will be our most eco-friendly, tech-savvy and inspirational one yet, with engaging expert speakers, live text message updates and guest appearances by several high-profile change makers and celebrities. San Francisco, a city known for innovation and novelty, will be an ideal backdrop for this exhilarating event.




I always believed that social media was powerful, but the success of the recent Target “Bullseye Gives” campaign proved that true impact that can be attained through such tools.
